We Americans live in a society with increasing levels of gun violence. Mass shootings, once a rare event, are now commonplace. Land of the Free, Home of the Brave is a memorial to the 128 victims of school mass shootings, defined as four or more victims. There is a white origami lily for each victim inscribed with their name. Together they form the white stripes of the flag. The red stripes are embroidered with the names of the schools involved.
