Tumbling Down, 2024
Coarse red clay, digitally embroidered constructed cotton quilt, constructed cotton flannel diaper
figure 31” x 16” x 9” on wood plinth 4” x 24” x 24”
quilt 110” x 85”
Tumbling Down was made in response to the growing lack of civility in our political discourse. Inspired by the book, “All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten” by Robert Fulghum, I created a life-size toddler from red clay holding his baby blanket made of blocks on which are embroidered the advice we give our children. This installation is part of a body of work titled Endemic about the effects of mass shootings and gun violence on our children.
